Why This Site Exists
Virginia custody searches are split across many systems. A recent booking may be in a sheriff-run jail, a city jail, or a regional jail authority. A sentenced person may be in VADOC custody or supervision. Federal and immigration custody use separate federal locators. This site brings those routes together at state level so a search can start with the right system.
What Is Included
The site includes statewide explanations and routing pages for jail and inmate records, booking photos, court records after arrest, the VADOC inmate population, locality subdomains, and the statewide facility directory.
- Virginia inmate records and custody search routes.
- Jail rosters and mugshots with Virginia FOIA context.
- Court records after an arrest for charges and case status.
- Locality directory and facility directory routing.
What This Site Cannot Do
This is not VADOC, a sheriff, a jail, a court, BOP, ICE, or a law firm. It cannot release anyone, transfer anyone, post bond, schedule visits, send money, confirm official custody, change a record, or give legal advice.
Only the holding agency, court, or records custodian can confirm current custody, charges, release eligibility, or official record availability.
Search Partners
Some pages include search boxes or sponsored tools from third-party providers. Those providers set their own prices, terms, and result displays. If a visitor signs up through a partner tool, this site may receive a referral fee that helps keep the reference pages available.
